Brian Norling has over 33 years of experience in research & development, technology management, acquisitions and divestitures. Mr. Norling is a co-founder of MEMS Precision Technology (MPT) in 2002. He also founded several other highly successful and profitable companies including Innovative Solutions and Kalypso. He took MEMS classes at MIT and was a pioneer in the MEMS industry. He founded the MEMS Wafer Fabrication Facility at Honeywell in Redmond Washington. He is certified for personal use of the UCSB Nanofabrication facility in Santa Barbara. His MEMS based product experience includes the quartz vibrating beam technology used in JDAM, productionization of the Northrop Grumman LN200 silicon accelerometer, accelerometer & gyro sensors for IMUs, high-precision resonant pressure sensors, and a miniature wireless resonant pressure sensor in addition to MPT MEMS products currently in development. Mr. Norling has managed engineering organizations with more than 220 engineers and scientists and has held several senior-level management positions in Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Norling received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington and a Masters in Business Administration with top national honors (Beta Gamma Sigma) from Seattle University. He is a member of the IEEE and ASME. Mr. Norling has approximately 35 patents and has published numerous technical papers. He has consulted for nearly a dozen companies in the last fifteen years including Honeywell, Allied Signal, L-3 Communications, Curtis Wright, and Northrop Grumman.
